Preparing coffee in Aeropress

Preparing a coffee in Aeropress is accessible to all budding baristas:

Heat water to between 90 and 96 degrees Celsius.

Insert a filter into the AeroPress filter holder. Rinse the filter with hot water to remove impurities from the paper and warm the AeroPress.

Add the ground coffee to the AeroPress. Use a medium to fine grind, similar to that used for a filter coffee maker.

Pour the hot water over the coffee. Use about double the weight of water to the weight of the coffee. For example, for 15 grams of coffee, use approximately 30 ml of water.

Stir the coffee-water mixture with a spoon or spatula for about 10 to 15 seconds to ensure even extraction.

Wait a few seconds (about 10 to 15 seconds) to allow the coffee to brew.

Slowly insert the plunger into the AeroPress to press the coffee through the filter. Apply constant pressure until all the liquid is extracted.

Once you have pressed all the coffee, remove the AeroPress from the cup.

FAQs

It is generally recommended not to wash the Able Disk Permanent Filter for Aeropress in the dishwasher. Although the filter is made of stainless steel and durable, the dishwasher can affect its performance and lifespan.

It is best to clean the Able Disk filter by hand by rinsing it with hot water and using a soft brush to remove any coffee residue. Be careful not to use abrasive detergents or scouring pads, as this may damage the filter.

The Abe Disk permanent filter is thicker than a regular filter: therefore, it is designed to last for many years of use and is very difficult to bend and/or damage.
