les microlots de café : terroir d'exception pour un café premium

What is a specialty coffee microlot?

In India's Araku Valley, an exemplary cooperative has developed, bringing together several thousand small-scale coffee farmers. Each family carefully cultivates one or more plots of coffee trees, thus preserving the diversity and richness of the local terroir. At harvest time, each batch of coffee is tasted separately by a panel of experts. This meticulous work allows the harvests to be classified and blended according to their aromatic profiles. Plots sharing similar characteristics are grouped together to form a clearly identifiable terroir, while the rarest and most remarkable batches are distinguished under the Microlot designation, a symbol of exceptional specialty coffee.

FAQs

Yes. Each microlot comes from a single plot or a very small group of plots cultivated by a family of producers in the Araku Valley. They are harvested, tasted, and selected lot by lot, making them rare coffees available in approximately 300 bags per variety.

Doravalasa is specially roasted for gentle brewing methods (filter, V60, French Press, Chemex), while Rangsingpadu reveals its full potential in espresso or manual machines. Together, they allow you to explore two different tasting styles.

Indian specialty coffee is distinguished by its exceptional aromatic finesse, linked to high-altitude terroirs, traditional cultivation methods, and meticulous post-harvest processing. In regions like the Araku Valley, coffees are shade-grown, hand-picked, and tasted batch by batch by experts. This artisanal approach yields precise aromatic profiles, often marked by fruity, floral, or spicy notes, which fully reflect the richness of Indian terroirs.
