The Orea O1 Wave paper filter is the official consumable designed by Orea for daily use with the O1 Brewer. Its wave shape, the most accessible format in the range, allows for instant installation without tools, folding, or preparation. You place the filter in the brewer, pour the coffee, and start brewing. It's that simple.

Behind this simplicity of use lies rigorous paper engineering work. Orea spent years researching a wave paper that met its own aromatic requirements, discarding alternatives that did not find the right balance between density and porosity. This filter is thick enough to offer clean filtration and preserve cup cleanliness, while remaining porous enough to maintain a steady flow without slowing down or clogging. The result is a balanced, consistent, and reproducible extraction, brew after brew.

The wave format naturally generates a slightly narrower and more vertical coffee bed than flat filters, which promotes a little more bypass and generally shorter brewing times. The in-cup profile is less concentrated than with a flat Negotiator filter, but its clarity, sweetness, and ease of use make it the ideal choice for everyday, no-fuss brewing. The box contains 100 filters in the 155 Small format, compatible with the Orea O1 Brewer in its plastic and steel versions.

The wave filter, for a good cup

There are two ways to approach filter coffee. The first is exploration: changing the grind, testing recipes, comparing papers, timing every pour. The second is simply making the best possible coffee with the minimum of friction. The Orea O1 Wave filter was designed for this second approach, and that's its true value.
By eliminating the folding or setup step with the Negotiator, it reduces preparation to its strict minimum. The filter slides into the brewer in seconds, the coffee is poured, and extraction begins. For light to medium roast Araku coffees, whose aromatic profiles are strong enough to express themselves without additional paper work, the Wave produces clean, smooth, and consistent cups, cup after cup.

FAQs

Rinsing is not mandatory, but it is recommended to remove any slight traces of paper and to preheat the brewer before extraction. With the wave format, this rinse takes only a few seconds. For coffees with a delicate aromatic profile, such as lightly roasted Araku terroir beans, it can contribute to a slightly cleaner cup. For rushed daily use, not rinsing will not produce a noticeably different result.

Yes. The 155 Small wave format is one of the most widespread standards in the world of filter coffee. These filters are compatible with any brewer accepting the 155 format, which includes most compact flat-bottom drippers on the market. Their primary and recommended compatibility remains the Orea O1 Brewer, for which the format was specifically calibrated.

A reliable starting point: 15g of coffee for 250ml of water at 92-93°C, with a medium grind. The wave format tends to produce a faster flow than a flat filter; if your cup lacks body or sweetness, slightly refine the grind or increase the dose by 1 to 2g. If it is too long or too bitter, coarsen the grind. The Wave is particularly suitable for light-roasted Araku coffees (High Altitude, First Harvest) whose aromatic vibrancy is fully expressed in cups with a generous flow.
