Sage's Machine Descaler is a descaling product designed to remove limescale deposits that gradually accumulate in the internal hydraulic circuits of an espresso machine. Packaged in single-dose powder sachets, it protects the thermal components of the machine, whether thermoblock, thermocoil, or dual boiler, and maintains the heating precision essential for quality extraction.

Limescale is the discreet enemy of coffee machines. It silently deposits on the walls of water circuits, gradually reducing the machine's thermal capacity, lengthening the heating time, and creating variations in extraction stability. In the context of specialty coffee, where a few degrees' difference can be enough to imbalance an aromatic profile, regular descaling is not an option: it is a measure of precision.

The single-dose sachet formula simplifies the descaling protocol and avoids any direct contact with the product. The packaging has been revised to reduce plastic and favor recyclable envelopes. The box contains 6 sachets.

Regular descaling ensures a machine that extracts at the correct temperature

The hardness of water varies by region, but limescale is a reality everywhere. Even with a water filter in place, some of the dissolved minerals eventually deposit on the heating elements of internal circuits. Over time, this accumulation thermally insulates the heating elements, degrades the consistency of temperature rise, and can even damage the most sensitive components of the machine.
The Machine Descaler acts directly on these deposits, chemically dissolving them during a guided cycle. Its effectiveness is superior to white vinegar, often mistakenly recommended: too acidic and odorous, vinegar can attack seals and leave traces on the quality of the coffee. The Sage formula has been developed to act precisely without altering the machine's materials.

FAQs

The frequency primarily depends on the water hardness in your area and the volume of use. As a general rule, descaling every two to three months is recommended. Sage machines have a built-in indicator that triggers an alert when descaling is needed. In parallel, regular use of a ClaroSwiss filter significantly reduces the rate of limescale buildup.

Yes, it is designed for the entire Sage range, from compact thermoblock models (Bambino) to dual boiler machines (Dual Boiler, Oracle). The descaling cycle is guided directly by the machine, which indicates the steps to follow once the program is launched.

It is not recommended to use white vinegar in an espresso machine. Its acetic acidity can corrode seals and aluminum parts and leave a lingering odor that is difficult to remove. Machine Descaler uses an acidic formula specifically calibrated to dissolve limescale without damaging internal components, while ensuring complete neutralization during rinsing.
