Recommended preparation methods:

The Geddavalasa MicroLot is a microlot of specialty Arabica coffee grown in the heart of the Araku Valley Nature Reserve, at an altitude of 1,171 meters. Originating from the village of the same name, this rare coffee is produced by J. Thamanna, a dedicated farmer and member of the Gems of Araku program. His plot flourishes beneath a dense canopy of silver oaks, mango trees, and citrus trees, creating a vibrant ecosystem that nurtures the aromatic complexity of each bean.

Processed using a natural method, this microlot reveals a smooth and generous cup, with a round and perfectly balanced body. Notes of hazelnut, clementine, and black tea emerge, offering an elegant and lingering tasting experience. With a cupping score of 87, Geddavalasa excels as both filter coffee and espresso, thanks to a carefully considered roasting process designed to enhance all extraction methods. An exceptional, limited-edition coffee, reflecting a preserved terroir and exacting craftsmanship.

J.Thamanna, fermier producteur de café de spécialité dans la vallée d'Araku en Inde

J.Thamanna, Geddavalasa village

In the village of Geddavalasa, in the heart of the Araku Valley, J. Thamanna cultivates coffee with the care of a living ecosystem. Since 2023, he has participated in Gems of Araku, an initiative that celebrates farmers whose expertise reveals the full richness of the terroir.
His plot flourishes beneath a dense and vibrant canopy, shaped by carefully preserved shade trees: silver oaks, mango trees, jackfruit trees, citrus trees, and papaya trees. Here, each tree plays a role, protecting the coffee plants, nourishing the soil, and creating a natural balance essential to the quality of the coffee beans.

Un microlot de café de spécialité est un café qui présente des caractéristiques uniques et hors du commun pour un café bio

What is a specialty coffee microlot?

The Araku valley is organized around a cooperative bringing together thousands of farmers. Each farming family has one or more plots on which their coffee trees grow. During the harvest, all the coffee plots (or lots) are tasted separately by a group of experts. In order to classify and assemble the different batches. Plots with similar characteristics are grouped into terroirs. And the best lots, those with unique and exceptional characteristics are distinguished as Microlot.

FAQs

The natural process is a method of treating coffee cherries after harvest. Unlike the washed process, the cherries are dried whole, with their pulp and mucilage still intact, usually in the sun. During drying, the sugars and aromas contained in the pulp slowly infuse the bean, resulting in coffees with fruity, intense, and often more complex profiles.

Our Rangsingpadu microlot is limited to 300 bags of 200g of specialty coffee beans.

The notion of specialty coffee corresponds to a quality certification awarded to the best Arabica coffees in the world and awarded by the Specialty Coffee Association. To be identified as such, the coffees are tasted and rated by “cuppers” (certified SCA experts). If the total score is greater than 80/100 then the coffee can claim the name of specialty coffee. All Araku coffees are specialty coffees and all have at least a tasting score above 86.
