Recommended preparation methods:

Microlot Gummaguda is distinguished by intense flavors of black cherry, fermented cocoa and chestnut honey.

This limited-quantity organic coffee is harvested entirely by hand between November and January in the Gummaguda village plots high in the Araku Valley in India. It has undergone natural processing, giving it a complexity and balance worthy of the finest whole-bean coffees. Our Gummaguda Microlot is certified as a specialty coffee by the SCA. Very intense in espresso, comforting with milk, and fruity in a light method, its omniroast profile makes it versatile for all preparation methods.

BUDHRANNA family, Gummaguda village

Pangi Budhranna and his wife Simalu live in Gummaguda, a small village nestled in the verdant heights of the Araku Valley, India. Since 2009, they have been carefully cultivating coffee within the Araku Coffee cooperative. Every day, their work is guided by a vision: to produce high-quality coffee while preserving the balance of their environment. On their plot, the coffee trees grow in the heart of a rich and vibrant ecosystem. This regenerative approach promotes biodiversity, enriches the soil, and gives rise to beans of rare complexity. The Gummaguda microlot reflects this harmony between land, know-how, and passion. More than a coffee, it is the story of a committed couple, a unique terroir, and a community united around a sustainable and fair project.

Un microlot de café de spécialité est un café qui présente des caractéristiques uniques et hors du commun pour un café bio

What is a specialty coffee microlot?

The Araku valley is organized around a cooperative bringing together thousands of farmers. Each farming family has one or more plots on which their coffee trees grow. During the harvest, all the coffee plots (or lots) are tasted separately by a group of experts. In order to classify and assemble the different batches. Plots with similar characteristics are grouped into terroirs. And the best lots, those with unique and exceptional characteristics are distinguished as Microlot.

FAQs

The natural process is a method of treating coffee cherries after harvest. Unlike the washed process, the cherries are dried whole, with their pulp and mucilage still intact, usually in the sun. During drying, the sugars and aromas contained in the pulp slowly infuse the bean, resulting in coffees with fruity, intense, and often more complex profiles.

Our microlot Gummaguda is limited to 400 pouches of 200g of specialty coffee beans.

The notion of specialty coffee corresponds to a quality certification awarded to the best Arabica coffees in the world and awarded by the Specialty Coffee Association. To be identified as such, the coffees are tasted and rated by “cuppers” (certified SCA experts). If the total score is greater than 80/100 then the coffee can claim the name of specialty coffee. All Araku coffees are specialty coffees and all have at least a tasting score above 86.
