The Moccamaster KBGT Matte Black filter coffee maker embodies the excellence of Dutch craftsmanship. Made from premium materials, it combines reliability, durability, and precise extraction for discerning filter coffee lovers. Its retro and minimalist design, emblematic of the brand, integrates elegantly into any kitchen.
Designed to fully preserve the aromas, it features a high-performance thermal carafe with a stainless steel body and a glass interior. This design keeps freshly brewed coffee at approximately 80°C for nearly 3 hours without the need for a hot plate. Even after 8 hours, the coffee remains pleasantly hot, at around 50°C, preventing any over-brewing or bitterness.
With its simple one-button operation, the Moccamaster KBGT focuses on the essentials to guarantee perfect extraction. It prepares up to 1.25 liters of filter coffee in just 6 minutes, with a rigorously controlled water temperature between 92°C and 96°C, ideal for bringing out the full aromatic richness of the ground coffee. The brewing time, approximately 5.5 minutes, is perfectly balanced to produce a well-rounded, harmonious coffee free of unwanted notes.

Classic filter coffee maker vs Moccamaster filter coffee machine

When comparing a classic filter coffee maker to a high-end machine, the Moccamaster KBGT clearly stands out thanks to its design, precise extraction, and build quality. Unlike traditional coffee makers, the Moccamaster KBGT relies on a controlled brewing technology, specifically designed for the gentle method, to fully reveal the aromas and complexity of the coffee. Its percolation system is calibrated with great precision: the water is heated to an ideal temperature and distributed evenly over the ground coffee, while maintaining a perfectly balanced contact time. The result is a rich, harmonious cup of filter coffee without any bitterness.

Achieve perfect brewing with the KBGT Moccamaster filter coffee maker

There are several important steps to follow to successfully make filter coffee with the Moccamaster KBGT filter coffee maker:

First, the quality of the coffee. We recommend a specialty coffee with a light to medium roast, such as Araku High Altitude or First Harvest organic coffee.

Next comes the grinding. It's ideal to grind your specialty coffee at the last minute to preserve the freshness of the beans. A fine to medium grind is recommended for optimal extraction.

Finally, the coffee/water ratio: the ideal dose of coffee for your filter coffee maker is 60 to 70g of ground coffee per liter of water.

FAQs

To obtain perfect filter coffee, it is recommended to use a medium to medium fine grind. This grind is between that used for espresso and that used for mild methods such as Chemex or V60. Thanks to a good balance, your Moccamaster KBG Select Matt Black filter coffee machine guarantees balanced extraction. Indeed, when the doses of coffee and water are respected, the water flows harmoniously through the coffee and thus offers a delicious cup of filter coffee.

Thanks to its stainless steel carafe with a glass interior, the coffee stays at approximately 80°C for 3 hours and is still hot after several hours.

The KBGT is equipped with an insulated carafe that retains heat without a hot plate, while the KBG uses a glass carafe with a hot plate to maintain the coffee temperature.
